Warren boys soccer lost a heartbreaker Thursday evening, falling to General McLane 4-3 at War Memorial Field.
A true back and forth battle was on display as neither team wanted to concede. It was the Lancers who would tip the scales their way with the clock winding down to edge the Dragons for the hard-fought win.
"Trey (Carrington) gave us a lot at striker," Warren head coach Steffen Blair stated. "starting our press and getting us going on the counter. He created a lot of chances for us."
Carrington would go on to score, assisted by Reilly Morgan, and had an assist in the game. Also scoring for the Dragons were Mason Warner on a penalty kick, Grant Newton, assisted by Trey Carrington.
"Kyle (Jones), Brye (Grolemund), and Reilly (Morgan) continue to be consistent and reliable for us in the back three, and Aidan (Sweet) had some really big moments for us in net," Blair added.
The Dragons next host the Bradford Owls today at War Memorial Field, with a 1 p.m. kickoff. "We know we can't expect to consistently win games when we're conceding goals at the rate we are," Blair said. "We need to be better as a group defending corners and set pieces, and we'll get back to work and use this as something we can learn from and improve on."
