ERIE -- Warren's boys soccer team dropped a tough nonregion matchup Wednesday as they fell 4-0 against McDowell.
"Obviously, the scoreline isn't what we wanted, but I thought our defense played really well for large stretches of the game," said head coach Steffen Blair.
The Trojans kept the pressure on all game and capitalized on Warren's inconsistencies.
"Bryce (Grolemund) and Reilly (Morgan) were fantastic and did a great job limiting what McDowell does well," Blair said. "We knew this would be a game where we'd be without possession for stretches, but our team defense wasn't consistent enough for all 80 minutes, and against a team like McDowell, that's going to hurt you. This was always going to be a challenging part of our schedule, and we're learning a lot about ourselves through it. We trust our leaders and are going to get back to work and be better because of it."
The junior varsity squad lost 3-1. Scoring Warren's lone goal was Brody VanGuilder, assisted by Aaron Gausman.
The Dragons look to bounce back Tuesday as they host the Erie Royals at 6 p.m. at War Memorial Field.
