Warren boys compete in Marquette Savings Bank Invitational

MEADVILLE -- The Warren boys golf team traveled to Meadville on Tuesday to compete at the annual Marquette Savings Bank Invitational held at Meadville Country Club.

One hundred forty-six total golfers competed in the event where they played in fivesomes.

"It was an extremely long round," said head coach Nate Sandberg. "The mental test of staying focused throughout a near-six-hour round is straining, and finding any sort of groove can be next to impossible."

Gavin Haibach's score of 80 earned him a 15th-place finish, with Isaac Neal (95), Matt Shippee (96), Aaron Shene (99) and Keegan Weisseinger (101) also representing the Dragons.

"All of these kids, minus Gavin, will be the main one vying for the top five varsity spots next season," Sandberg said. "It is important to give them opportunities to gain experience and improve."

The Dragons are in the home stretch of their season. They have one final invitational next Thursday at Tam O' Shanter, then the individual district competition the following week.
