MEADVILLE -- Warren's Kate Shippee earned a 10th-place individual finish Monday at the 17th annual Meadville Invitational out of nearly 60 total competitors.
"On a windy, cold and damp day, the conditions were tougher than usual to score at the club today," said girls head coach Scott Pearson. "Because of the amount of rain that the course had recently undertaken, the course hadn't been able to mow the rough much, which made it very challenging to hit or even find balls. The pin placements were also challenging, making lag putting difficult on the very fast greens. This was good practice for Kate as she starts preparing for Districts, as well as some valuable experience for players Alyssa Goss and Juliana Polito who will be returning next season."
Senior Alyssa Reichle also had a solid day, carding a 119, which is her best round at The Country Club.
The team event was won by West Middlesex, followed by Mercyhurst Prep and Fort LeBouef.
The individual event was won by Cassidy Conn of Fort LeBoeuf with a 74, followed by Moira Ethartic of Fairview with a 77, and Paige Sowers of West Middlesex and Katie Plummer of Grove City with 78s.
Warren returns to action Friday at Erie High's home course JC Martin, for the last mega match of the year.
"We are hoping for a strong finish from Zella Hendricks, who possibly could net an automatic bid into the District 10 Championships with a good round," Pearson said.
