COUDERSPORT -- It was all Kate Shippee on Thursday as she fired an 82 for the individual medalist spot while leading the Warren girls golf team to a second-place finish at the Coudersport Girls Golf Invitational held at Coudersport Golf Club.
"This is her first outright invitational win and I couldn’t be more proud of her," Dragons head coach Scott Pearson said of Shippee. "She had to quickly adjust to the much slower greens than she has played on the last few days, and this course has many tight fairways, doglegs and small undulating greens which brings in a lot of strategic shot selections."
Thursday was also the Dragons' highest team finish of the season.
"Many of our girls played solid golf today and are steadily improving while Emma Sproveri had a personal best 125," Pearson said.
The team event was won by Athens High School. Warren’s scoring was Shippee at 82, Alyssa Reichle 116, Cailee Williams 124, Emma Sproveri 125 and Tia French 163.
"This was a busy three days of golf, but we were able to get every girl some tournament/match experience," Pearson said.
The girls return to play Wednesday as they have a home mega match, as well as Senior Day, at Cable Hollow Golf Course.
