NORTH EAST -- The Eisenhower girls soccer team got back in the win column Monday with a 2-1 win over North East in Region 3 action.
The home team scored its only goal at the seven-minute mark of the first half when Catherine Nishnick scored to give Grape Pickers a 1-0 lead.
Rosalie Rondeau scored both of Eisenhower's goals.
Rondeau's first goal came with 3:19 remaining in the first half to tie the game.
"Our passing game was really in tonight," Eisenhower head coach Ashley Elms said, "and the girls hustled to be the first ones at the ball."
Rondeau struck again just four minutes in to the second half to give the Knights a 2-1 lead. They would never relinquish the lead en route to the win.
"We mixed things up a little tonight with more of an emphasis on defense and it showed," Elms said. "I thought Abby Jukes and Sophia Wallace both played very well for us defensively."
Eisenhower not only had to battle the Grape Pickers, but also the elements.
"The wind was definitely a factor today," Elms said. "This was our first game on turf this season so it was a faster game, but the girls really stepped up. Kylie Guiher had another great game in net and continues to improve."
Eisenhower is back in action Wednesday at home when they welcome Mercyhurst Prep for a 4 p.m. Region 3 game.
