MEADVILLE -- Michael Palmieri kept his senior season alive Tuesday as he narrowly made the cut in the first round of the District 10 Class 3A golf championships.
Held at Meadville Country Club, Palmieri ended the day by sinking a 15-foot birdie on putt on the 16th hole en route to an 18-hole score of 87.
"Michael stayed focused throughout the day and came up clutch when he needed it most," Warren head coach Nate Sandberg said. "He struggled off the tee almost all day, and made it difficult on himself. If he can find fairways and hit more greens in regulation, he can certainly have a sub-80 round (Wednesday)."
Meadville’s Patrick Mahoney was the top golfer on the day, firing a one-under par 71.
Warren's Kate Shippee is also competing today with hopes to make the top two and qualify for the PIAA tournament later in October.
