HERMITAGE -- The Eisenhower Knights cross country team competed at the annual Blue Devil Invitational over the weekend and had plenty of success.
Hosted at Buhl Park, the Knights ran well, competed hard and impressed head coach Darlene Beach.
"This meet gives us the opportunity to race against a lot of other schools in District 10," she said. "Quite a few of our kids had personal best times on the course."
In varsity boys action, the Knights earned an 11th-place team finish out of 28 total teams led by Parker McBride's 18:22 pace, good for 38th overall and a medal. Finishing in 62nd and 63rd places were Mason Britt and Alex Lund, respectively, then Joseph Fanelli at 19:51, good for 90th overall. Rounding out the scoring for the Knights was Cameron Lindell's 96th-place finish at a 19:59 pace. Brice Ludwick and Dylan Shaffer also competed for the Knights in the event.
For the girls, Izzy Grosch earned a 41st overall individual finish and a medal with a pace of 23:07. Haley Ferrie (27:16, 115th) and Addy Britt (28:51, 128th) ran well for the Knights.
For the junior high boys, Zach Ayers (10:33, 61st) was the high finisher with teammate Grant Criswell just 5 seconds behind at 68th overall. Derek Leach's time of 14:27 rounded out the junior high scoring.
Lastly, junior high runner Kaylee Ferino's time of 11:19 earned her a medal as the 50th overall finisher, with Evelina Carlson on her heels at 11:24 in 52nd place. Naveen Mead (11:53, 69th), and Lexis Wolfer (15:15, 182nd) also competed in the event.
The Knights head to Rochester, New York, on Saturday for the McQuaid Invitational.
