Knights look for first win tonight vs. Seneca

RUSSELL -- The Eisenhower football team looks to get into the win column tonight when it faces Seneca in a Region 3 game at Eisenhower High School.
The Knights (0-3, 0-2 in Region 3) fell last week to Corry 35-0, but in the process outgained Corry in total offense and appear to be gaining confidence and, more importantly, experience for their young players.
Eisenhower head coach Jim Penley is well aware of long-time region opponent Seneca.
"They are an extremely well-coached team that gives phenomenal effort on both sides of the ball," he said. "They run the option very well and their quarterback does a great job at reading defenses. We absolutely have to be disciplined on defense, and we need to get our running game going early to chew up the clock and keep their offense off the field."
Junior quarterback Dalton Boyd leads Seneca (1-2, 1-0), passing for 346 yards (27 of 46, five touchdowns) and rushing for 101 yards on 19 carries.
The Knights are led by a trio of seniors. Quarterback Joe Gigliotti has passed for 220 yards (20 of 36) and gained 189 yards on 41 carries and scored a pair of TDs. Hard-running tailback Nolan Gesing has accounted for 168 yards on 31 carries and a pair of touchdowns. Gesing has also been a steady target for Gigliotti, catching eight passes for 108 yards, and Ollie Boozer has added eight receptions for 78 yards.
