Ike girls win, boys fall in soccer

It was a split for the Eisenhower soccer teams Wednesday.
The girls took the long trip to St. Marys and came away with a 3-1 win while the boys lost a 3-2 heartbreaker to Titusville at home.
The Lady Knights did all their scoring in the second half as Rosalie Rondeau scored a pair of goals, the first coming at the 33-minuyr mark, courtesy of a nice pass from Hannah Lund. A few minutes later, Josie Elms took a pass from Grace Martin, who found the back of the net to improve the Eisenhower lead to 2-0.
St. Marys cut the lead in half just one minute on a goal by Reese Smith.
Rondeau wasn't done, though, as she took a pass from Amelia Smyth and drilled a shot into the net to give Eisenhower some breathing room at 3-1 which held up for the final score.
"Offensively I thought Grace (Martin) had a nice game, and on defense Abby Jukes and Lily Jesperson were solid in the middle," Eisenhower head coach Ashley Elms said. "Katie Upton, Sophia Wallace and Maiah Konen played well."
The Lady Knights (5-1) will be back in action today for a 4 p.m. region game against Seneca.
In boys action, the Knights battled back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game 10 minutes into the second half when Rever Caudill collected his second goal of the game.
Eisenhower moved the ball the entire game and matched Titusville's intensity, but missed several close shots at the net. Titusville eventually scored with 15 minutes remaining and held on for the win.
"That is a tough loss to take," Eisenhower head coach Mike Taylor said. "We dominated the game for large stretches, but unfortunately our few mistakes came back to haunt us."
Leading the way for the knights were Caudill, Hunter Cummings and Ryan Huck.
"I thought all three of those guys had really nice games," added Taylor.
