RUSSELL -- One goal was the difference Tuesday for the Eisenhower girls soccer team in a 1-0 loss to Girard in Region 3 action.

The Yellowjackets scored the only goal of the game midway through the first half when Emmy Montgomery found the back of the net on a center shot.

Eisenhower led the statistical battle as the Knights outshot Girard 10-8, as the midfielders from both teams kept the ball away from the nets.

"I felt both teams were very evenly matched," Eisenhower head coach Ashley Elms said. "We played much better in the second half, we just couldn't work a shot in."

The Knights got strong games from Camdyn Black, Katie Upton and Lily Jesperson in the midfield according to Elms.

"I thought Kylie Guiher had a very good game in the net for us," Elms added. "She has strung some nice games together."

Eisenhower fell to 4-1-0 overall and 0-1-0 in region 3 play.

Eisenhower is back in action today when it travels to St. Marys for a nonregion contest. Start time is set for 4 p.m.
