GIRARD -- The Warren High boys golf team had its penultimate Region 6 AAA mega match Thursday -- hosted by McDowell -- at Elk Valley Golf Course.
Senior Hayden Hendricks paced the Dragons, carding a 79, followed by an 80 from Michael Palmieri. Xander Russell's 85 and Presley Weldon's 86 rounded out the team score for Warren at 330, which was good for fourth place. Gavin Haibach carded an 88.
Meadville's team score of 295 was led by Patrick Mahoney's 68 and Luke Ferry's 69. McDowell's Will Herron (2-under 70) was the final under-par round of the outing.
"Meadville and McDowell have all but locked up the team spots for Districts, so our goal is to get as many kids to qualify as individuals," said Warren head coach Nate Sandberg. "The top 12 low averages qualify, and Michael (Palmieri) is 11th, Hayden (Hendricks) is 12th, and Gavin (Haibach) sits on the outside looking in at 15th. We have our home match next Monday, so hopefully we can take advantage of that and get at least two, maybe all three kids in."
Warren is set to host the final Region 6 mega match of the 2026 season on Monday at Cable Hollow Golf Course at 9 a.m.
