RUSSELL -- Eisenhower won a thrilling, come-from-behind, Region 3 volleyball match over Greenville on Thursday evening.
After an opening set 25-8 loss, Eisenhower slowly built up a lead in the second set behind service points by Paisley Lawson and eventually pulled away 25-18 to knot the match at one set apiece.
The third set was back and forth the entire way. The score was knotted at 25-all before the Trojans took the lead and eventually the win 27-25.
With Greenville holding a 2-1 lead in the match, Knights took the lead from the start of the fourth set and never let it go, ultimately winning 25-13.
With the match tied 2-2, the Knights did not let up on the intensity, with the crowd behind them, timely serves by Lawson, and digs by Meredith Smyth and Kadyn Moore, the Knights pulled away and won the set 15-10 to improve their overall record to 3-2, including 1-1 in region play.
The Knights were led by Lawson, who had 19 kills, two blocks and two aces. Alanna Byrd had eight kills and three aces. Ashlynn Zimmerman added six kills and a block.
Defensively, Eisenhower was led by Lawson, who had 21 digs, Smyth with 18 digs and Byrd with 15 digs.
"I thought it was a great team win by our girls, they never stopped battling," Eisenhower head coach Lori Pascuzzi said. "I thought Kaydyn Moore had a phenomenal night setting and on defense with her digs."
Eisenhower is back in action Monday for a key region match at Seneca.
