RUSSELL -- The Eisenhower Knights improved to 2-1 on the season as they defeated visiting Union City in straight sets 25-24, 25-15 and 25-12 in nonregion volleyball Thursday night.
The Knights' net play was dominant all night as the first game went back and forth, but once Eisenhower found its groove, the Knights controlled the tempo in all three games.
Leading the way for Eisenhower was Alanna Byrd with seven aces, 12 kills, 11 digs and three serve receives. Paisley Lawson had four aces, 13 kills, 10 digs and five serve receives while Ashlynn Zimmerman had four aces, six kills, two blocks and a dig.
"It was a great win over a longtime rival," Eisenhower head coach Lori Pascuzzi said. "The girls really stepped up tonight and we have found a rotation that the girls have embraced. We will tweak that as the season goes on and we move into region play, but I'm really proud of the effort tonight."
