The Warren girls volleyball team has been preparing for its 2026 campaign since its PIAA state playoff run last November.
Head coach Mike Dolan stated, "These athletes, top to bottom, have been working hard in Junior Olympic club volleyball, in the weight room, at open gyms, at multiple individual camps, at several team camps, at team tournaments, and in various winter and summer leagues."
Their preparation will hopefully lead to a back-to-back District 10 title, and potentially a run in the PIAA state tournament.
The Lady Dragons return a group of letter-winners, starters, region all-stars, district all-stars, and an all-state libero in Malysia Sorensen. The Lady Dragons will compete in Region 4 this season, which consists of all the AAAA teams in District 10 as well as the 6A teams of Erie High and McDowell.
Dolan added, "It will be very competitive with outstanding teams from traditional powerhouse programs Fort LeBoeuf, Harbor Creek, Corry, General McLane and Slippery Rock, amongst others."
A senior-heavy lineup is expected for the Dragons, which will feature a high level of communication and teamwork.
"Because of the way this team has embraced any and all competition and grown from it, I think people will be impressed with how well they work together and the terrific level of volleyball they play," stated Dolan. "If the girls have confidence and communicate well, the results will follow. The team’s success will be a direct reflection of the work they have done through the years, especially if they embrace whatever individual role they have to help the team and program."
The Lady Dragons open their season on Sept. 3 as they travel to Clarion to take on the Bobcats.
"Warren volleyball will be fun to see in person, so come out to the gym this season to watch these terrific student athletes play," Dolan said.
