FAIRVIEW -- Warren High boys golf kicked off their 2026 campaign at Beechwood Golf Club in a Region 6 mega match hosted by the Erie High Royals on Tuesday. Competing alongside Warren in the region this season is McDowell, Meadville, Erie High, General McLane, and Harbor Creek. The Dragons finished in 5th place as a team with a combined best 4 out of 5 score of 337. Meadville fired an impressive 299 led by the junior trio of Elliot Konetsky (71), Luke Ferry (72), and Patrick Mahoney (73).

"Starting out in 5th place is not what we had in mind going into the first match," reported head coach Nate Sandberg. "On the plus side, this is just the first one. We know where we need to improve and we will work on filling those gaps in practice to prepare for the next match on Thursday."

Leading the Dragons was the pair of Michael Palmieri and Gavin Haibach, both shooting 82's. Xander Russell carded an 85, Hayden Hendricks an 88, and Presley Weldon rounded out the scoring with a 93 in his first-ever varsity start.

The Dragons return to play Thursday as they head to Green Meadows Golf Course for another Region 6 mega match, this one hosted by Harbor Creek.

Starting at /week.
