Warren boys 2nd in Meadville

MEADVILLE -- Warren's boys golf team was on the road Monday for its third Region 6 mega match of the 2026 season.
Battling through a soggy course, an all-day wind, and a late rain storm at The Country Club of Meadville, the Dragons earned their highest team finish of the season: second place.
"I am really proud of how the boys handled themselves today," said head coach Nate Sandberg. "Every one of these region matches are crucial where every shot matters."
The Dragons team score of 342 narrowly beat McDowell's 343 and General McLane's 345. An 81 from senior Gavin Haibach led Warren, followed by an 85 from Michael Palmieri, 86 by Hayden Hendricks, a 90 from Presley Weldon and a 92 by Xander Russell. The Meadville Bulldogs continued their successes to lead all teams with a score of 308.
The Dragons have the rest of the week off then will travel to Culbertson Hills on Tuesday for another region match hosted by General McLane.
Warren also took a team to compete at the annual Bradford Invitational held at the Pennhills Club. For three of the five players, this was their very first competitive golf event of their careers. Matthew Shippee was the low Dragon with a 99, followed by a 105 from Isaac Neal. Also competing for Warren were Carson Britt (107), Keegan Weissenger (109) and Aaron Shene (110).
"Today's scoring conditions were tough," assistant coach Steve Onuffer said. "It was cold and raining and it was an unfamiliar course for the kids. This was their first competitive outing and I know they were disappointed in their scores, however, the first one is under their belt and their best day is definitely out there."
