JAMESTOWN, N.Y. -- The 2026 version of the Jamestown Community College women's volleyball team has several new faces, with just two returning sophomores on the roster in Nazariah Neal and Brittany Colon, but the captains are ready to lead a young Jayhawks squad.
"We have a lot of fresh talent with just the two sophomores this season, so it is really exciting to see how we work together as a team and what all these new girls can bring to the team," Colon said.
"It is so much fun," Neal added. "I love and breathe for this sport, especially interacting with all the new people I get to meet."
To integrate this young group, the two leaders harped on one key concept: consistency.
"I just want to be more consistent this year with hitting and passing and our dynamic as a team in general," Colon said. "I just want to be more consistent."
"Last year we weren't as consistent as we wanted to be, so this year we will focus on that, talking more, and overall being a better community," Neal added.
To find that daily rhythm, the sophomores believe it starts with putting in the effort in practice.
"We need to work hard. No quit. Come ready to practice and ready to give it your all," Colon said. "Come in with open ears and be ready to take instructions from everyone."
The team starts its season at home, hosting Corning Community College and SUNY Broome on Sunday at noon.
"It's about showing up every day," Neal said. "It's that simple. We need to show up every day."
