Baker Jr. officially declared RUSH Stock Car special winner

By Daniel Nelligan 2 min read

BUSTI, N.Y. -- When the dust settled on Saturday night's $750-to-win RUSH Stock Car special at Stateline Speedway, William Baker Jr. was the first driver to cross the finish line. However, the celebration was briefly put on hold when an official protest was filed against Baker's engine in the post-race tech barn.

The claim mandated a comprehensive inspection by RUSH Racing Series officials, leaving the official race results in limbo pending the outcome of the teardown.

The Official Ruling On Monday evening, the RUSH Stock Car Series officially cleared Baker, cementing his status as the race winner. In a released statement, the series confirmed:

"Following the RUSH Stock Car feature event at Stateline Speedway on August 15, a protest of William Baker's engine was filed. The engine was found to be 100% legal per the Chevrolet Performance 602 Technical Manual following the complete teardown by RUSH Competition Director, Travis Harry, on Monday evening, thus Baker's $750 victory is now official."

Adding to the Win Column With the tech shed drama resolved and the results deemed official, Baker successfully secures the lucrative $750 payday and adds another trophy to his growing collection. The confirmation also keeps Baker's hot streak alive, officially marking his second consecutive feature victory in his last two starts at the historic Busti dirt oval.
