LAKEWOOD, N.Y. — Tim Sandberg shot a gross 37 and Tom Messenger had a net 32 to lead the Youngsville Senior Golf League at Maplehurst Country Club.

Other gross scores included: John Blum (38), Rod Korbar (40), Bob Yucha (41) and Jim California (42).

Other net scores included: Rick Abplanalp (33) and Mike Collins (34).

Thirteen players converted birdies. Team Ward, made up of Art Ward, Korbar, Jim Chapman and Bob Downy, won the first-half championship with 188.5 points. Team Yucha (184.5) was second and Team Cerrie (176.5) was third.

RUSSELL — Mike’s Townline leads the Eastern Division with 160 points and Lion’s Gate Wealth leads the Western Division with 149 points after Week 9 of the Senior Men’s League at Cable Hollow Golf Course.

The next action will be Friday, July 10, when the Midseason Tournament is played.

Warren Tire is second in the Eastern Division with 152 points, followed by Litehouse Auto (146.5), Maple Place Farms (146), Huber Paving (139.5), Olde Duffers (138) and Cable Hollow (135).

Cable Hollow 2.0 is second in the Western Division with 149 points, followed by Townline Auto (148.5), Falconer/Frewsburg (126), Chili’s Dippers (122.5), NAPA Auto Parts (116.5) and Agricultural Logistics (99).

Arthur Stewart fired the low gross this week with a 33 while Gary Bjorkquist led the net scores with a 28. Gary VanGuilder accumulated the most points with 9.5. Art Ward eagled No. 18. Stewart made three birdies while Leighton Swanson, Mike Cole and Bjorkquist each made two. Bob Orbanic is the season points leader with 44.5.

RUSSELL — Sheffield Timber leads the Park Avenue Motor Car Men’s Senior League at Blueberry Hill Golf Course with 197.5 points.

Grosch and NAPA Auto Parts were tied for second with 194.5 points, followed by Warren Bus Lines (191), The Shockers (183), Olewine Financial (183), Fearsome Foursome (182), Sheffield Rod & Gun (178.5), R&W Truck Service (177.5), Top Shelf (177), Covell (176.5), Park Avenue Motor Car (175.5), Mt. Laurel FCU (171.5), United Refining (170.5), Morning Sun (167.5), Gary’s Golf Shop (165), The Patriots (161) and Sedon (158).

Mark Silvis shot the low gross this week with a 35, followed by Dick Davis (38) and Jeff McClement (39). Bob Silks fired the low net with a 26, followed by Bob Buerkle (28) and Bucky Hilyer (28).

Scott Saber made two birdies while Bill Petransky, Mark Borger, Kerry Gern, Scott Reynolds, Bob Zurcher, Dave Progar, Silvis, McClement, Jim Sturdevant, Davis and Terry English each made one.
