Warren trap ends regular season with win

Matt Franklin and Parker Lauffenburger both shot perfect 25’s to lead Warren over Tidioute by a score of 166-151 on Tuesday. The 166 score was once again a season high for a Warren team that has now seen four different kids shoot perfect rounds this season.

20 out of 38 Warren shooters topped at least 20 broken targets as Warren finished the regular season with a 4-2 record. The junior varsity team was also victorious by a score of 127-90 and finished the regular season with a 5-1 record.

“This was another very successful and competitive season, and it was very nice to see steady improvement from all of our shooters,” reported volunteer coaches David Tenney, Doug Gray, Matt Ristau, Brian Wingerter, Brandon Franklin, and Scott Pearson, along with statistician Beth Tenney. “We are all very proud of our players and truly thankful for the effort from our whole team, scorekeepers, and kitchen staff, and we are extremely grateful to all of the donors who help sustain the trap program in addition to our regional schools that make this sport so great! Also, Congratulations to Corry for winning the region again for the 16th straight year, and to our 14 seniors who will be greatly missed next year!”

The seniors on for Warren are: Kolten Sumrow, Conner Loomis, Faith Sherwood, Jacob Retterer, Hayden Lilley, Zane Carlson, Jordie Pearson, Sebastian Oyola, Wyatt Kittill, Domenic Mangione, John Peterson, KC Johnson, Braden Thompson and Jacob Ferino.

With the regular season over, there remains the field day next Tuesday at Corry, where all shooters will compete individually against kids within their specific season shooting average range for Top 3 Trophies in each division.

Warren Varsity was led with two 25’s by Matt Franklin and Parker Lauffenburger, followed by Hayden Lilley’s 24, and 23’s from Faith Sherwood, Domenic Mangione, Kolten Sumrow, and Taige Davis. The High Lady for Warren was Faith Sherwood, who tied her season high with a 23. Warren JV was led by Alainah Ginkel and Colton Clever, 20’s, then Baylee Mead at 19. Carter McKee and Eddie Abplanap shot 18’s, with Owen Young at 17, and Brody Connelly with 15.

Tidioute Varsity was led by Carter Anderson and Quinn Selfridge 24’s, followed by Ethan Manning at 22. Tanner Warham managed a 21, and Frisk Hrach, Spencer Lauger, and Wyatt Greeley each had 20. The High Lady was Shelby Hrach with a 20. Tidioute JV was led by Thomas Sabella, 19, Aiden Foster, 15, Trent Druken, 13, Mataya Ongley, 12, Alaina Ongley, Mia Buccardo, 11, and Tessa Joseph, 9.
