Knights suffer losses on diamond

It was a rough day on the diamond for the Eisenhower Knights on Thursday. The baseball team lost a nonregion game 20-2 to red-hot Oil City at Werner Park while the softball team went to Oil City and lost 13-2.
In the baseball game, the Oilers scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back. Freshman Wes Wilcox got the start for the Knights and took the loss.
The boys closed out their season with a 1-17 record and will graduate just two seniors. The Knights also fielded a jayvee team this season and have good numbers at the lower levels.
In the softball game, Oil City jumped ahead 4-0 in the first inning and added a run in the third before eight more in the fourth.
Right-hander Abbie Darr went the distance in the circle for the Knights. The junior had seven strikeouts and walked six.

Offensively, Eisenhower was led by Nakita Nelson, who went 2 for 3 at the plate and addedan RBI. Morgan Zaffino chipped in the other RBI. Sammie Childs added a hit in the loss.
The Knights conclude their softball season today when they welcome the Kane Wolves to Werner Park for a 4 p.m. game.
