STATE COLLEGE — Five local wrestlers medaled at the 2026 PAUSA Freestyle and Greco-Roman State Championships last weekend.
Leading the way was Youngsville eighth grader Johnathan Sullivan, who was champion in both Freestyle and Greco-Roman at 14U 225 pounds.
Sullivan did not waste much time in his Greco-Roman bracket on Friday. He opened his tournament with an 8-0 technical fall in just 20 seconds. A thunderous five-point throw led to a 25-second pin in his second match. In his final match, Sullivan scored a 13-second 8-0 technical fall over Joel Medina of Hamburg.
On Saturday, Sullivan once again reigned supreme. He began his tournament with a bye and then squared off with familiar foe Ben Corvin of Southmoreland. Sullivan raced out to a 7-0 lead in the first period before winning by a 7-3 margin. In the finals, Sullivan topped Berks Catholic’s Colt Witman 3-1 to claim his second state title in as many days.
Eisenhower’s Autumn Waite earned a second-place finish in the Girls 12U Freestyle 85-95 pound weight class. Waite dropped a tight match to Lancaster’s Audra Terwilliger in her first match. She then bounced back with consecutive first-period technical falls to end her tournament on a high note.
Eisenhower’s Gavin Dyke earned a third-place finish in the 8U Freestyle 62-pound division. Dyke picked up two wins throughout his day. His first victory came by pin over Ashton Morales of Plainfield. His second victory also came by way of pin as he beat Lehighton’s Vonn McClintic.
Gavin’s older brother, Clayton, also finished on the podium as he nabbed a fourth-place finish in the 12U Freestyle 98-pound division. Contrary to Gavin, Clayton concluded his day in dramatic fashion. Trailing by three points with time winding down, he scored a one-point reversal and the pin with seven seconds left in the match to pull off a stunning victory over Gettysburg’s Phil Mandzik.
Rounding out the place winners was Youngsville’s Brantley Coleson, who finished fourth in the 14U Freestyle 132-pound division. Coleson pinned Bentworth’s Brody Rados in 57 seconds in the consolation semifinals. In the consolation finals, Coleson lost by pin to Nathan Johnstonbaugh of Cumberland Valley.
