Meadville edges Dragons in softball

MEADVILLE — The Warren girls softball team dropped a 3-2 nail-biter Tuesday against Meadville.

The Bulldogs scored two runs in the bottom of the second but Warren held them to that until the seventh inning.

The Dragons mounted a comeback in the top of the sixth, sparked by Alanna Warrior, who got on base with a single, and Alexis Jones hit a double to put runners at second and third. Peyton Hagg came up with no outs and hit a two-run single to tie the game. Unfortunately for the visitors, the Bulldogs broke the tie in the bottom of the seventh inning to secure the victory.

Olivia Romanosky pitched a complete game, giving up just one hit, no earned runs, striking out four and walking four. Warrior collected three of Warren’s six hits.

“We played much better today,” reported Dragons head coach Samantha Mott. “There are still a few things to work on, but we took steps in the right direction. We had a couple of chances to score, but couldn’t capitalize. We have a few things to clean up on defense, but we’ll work on them this week and, hopefully, keep getting better when we have our first home game next week.”

Warren is back in action next Tuesday when it entertains Harbor Creek at 4:00 p.m. at the Legion Field Complex.

Starting at $3.50/week.
