McDowell dominates Warren baseball on Monday
The McDowell Trojans were in town Monday for a matchup against the Warren Dragons. Coming in on a 6-game winning streak, including an extra-inning win over rival Cathedral Prep, the Trojans’ momentum was simply too much for the Dragons as they fell 19-1.
McDowell got hot right off the bat, scoring eight runs in the first three innings, but the Dragons did cross the plate in the bottom of the 3rd to get on the board. Nice pitching displays from both teams resulted in innings four through six going scoreless.
Leading 8-1 in the top of the 7th, the Trojans rode off into the sunset, scoring 11 additional runs to put the comeback out of reach for the Dragons.
McDowell’s Jace O’Neill earned the win and combined with Andrew Samluk for 11 strikeouts in the outing.
Colin Zdarko earned the loss for the Dragons and Broc Bryan provided a double.
Warren returns to the diamond Wednesday as they travel to General McLane to take on the Lancers for a 4 p.m. start time.
