Lakers outhit Knights 17-5

ERIE — The Eisenhower Knights played their third game in four days, falling to Mercyhurst Prep 13-3 in Region 3 softball Tuesday.

Eisenhower scored twice in the first inning, thanks to an RBI triple down the first-base line from Marli Rectenwald and an Abbie Darr sacrifice fly.

Mercyhurst got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first, but gave that run back to the Knights with an error in the second inning.

The Lakers were then able to get a 5-3 lead in their half of the fourth inning, the big hit coming on a triple by Kara Dugan, which drove in a pair of runs.

The home team added seven runs in the fifth and another in the sixth. Mercyhurst outhit Eisenhower 17-5 on the day.

Knights right-hander Sammie Childs started in the circle and took the loss.

Eisenhower’s offense was led by Childs and fellow senior Nakita Nelson, who each had a pair of hits. Darr, Rectenwald and Morgan Zaffino each drove in a run.
