Ike baseball bows to Northwestern
The Eisenhower baseball team saw its record drop to 0-5, when it suffered a 6-2 non-region loss to Northwestern on Thursday.
Brayden Baker started on the hill for the Knights. He worked 5 2/3 innings and allowed four earned runs. Wes Wilcox came in in relief, allowing one earned run.
Northwestern jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning, thanks to a pair of doubles, adding another run in the top of the second on a Zach Johnson single.
Eisenhower scored a pair of runs in the second inning, highlighted by a Wilcox double, a sacrifice bunt by Brayden Frank and a two-run single by Bryce Spinks. That, however, was as close as the Knights would get.
“We played well and are improving, but we need to cut down on our mental mistakes,” Knights head coach Parker Neal said. “If we can learn to do that ,we put ourselves in position to win some games.”
In junior varsity action, Eisenhower won its second game in a row 5-3. The game only lasted two innings due to rain.
