Lancers don’t just win in fairytales as General McLane took down the Warren softball team 17-3 Thursday.
The Dragons were quickly down 6-0 to start the game, but rallied for three runs of their own to cut the score 6-3, courtesy of RBIs from Alanna Warrior (two hits), Tori Solberg and Alexis Jones. The Lancers would put the hammer down and put up 11 more runs en route to the victory. Also contributing offensively for Warren was Peyton Hagg, who notched a triple.
Despite the loss, Dragons head coach Samantha Mott was positive about her team’s performance.
“I really like how the girls fought and didn’t give up even when the game got away from us tonight,” she said. “It’s all about passing the bat. That’s what we really need to focus on. We do need to clean up the defense and field the ball before we go to throw, and need to make sure we have good communication when the ball is in play and before the pitches are thrown.”
Warren returns to action today when it hosts the Harbor Creek Huskies. First pitch is 4 p.m.
