Benefit pickleball tourney set for next month

Registrations and donations are being accepted for the inaugural House of Hope Pickleball Tournament, which will be held May 2-3 at Betts Park in Warren.

The event will include the following divisions: men’s doubles, 3.5-4.0 and 4.0-plus; women’s doubles, 3.5-4.0 and 4.0-plus; mixed doubles, 3.5-4-0 and 4.0-plus; and coed doubles, 2.5-3.0 (any team combination). The schedule, which includes a 9 a.m. check-in and a 10 a.m. start each day, will include 3.5-4.0 and coed 2.5-3.0 on May 2 and 4.0-plus divisions on May 3.

A shoe-drive giveaway will also be held. Individuals will receive one raffle ticket per pair of shoes donated to be included in a drawing for a pickleball paddle.

House of Hope is a non-profit organization that provides safe, supportive housing for women returning to the community from prison who are suffering with an addiction. Funds raised from the tournament will help cover utilities and keep the house open for women who desire a fresh start.
