Warren drops baseball opener at Meadville

MEADVILLE — The Warren baseball team started its 2026 campaign Monday when the Dragons traveled to Meadville to take on the Bulldogs.

The Dragons came out swinging and were able to score first when Broc Bryan knocked in Duncan McGarry with an RBI single.

The second and third innings were scoreless, but the fourth and fifth innings saw the Bulldogs bats come to life as they rattled off six runs off starting pitcher David Manning before he was relieved by junior Broc Bryan.

The Bulldogs beared down on the defensive end and did not allow the Dragons to score any more runs en route to the 7-1 victory.

“We told the boys after the game that the scoreboard didn’t really reflect how we played,” Warren head coach Johnny White said. “One of the things we are stressing this year is that you can’t let external factors impact how we approach the game, and they played hard the entire game. We had a couple hard-hit balls get hung up in the wind in pivotal spots that were caught by Meadville. They had a couple routine fly balls turn into base hits. Meadville is a good baseball team and have played three games before we got there. We haven’t seen a pitch of a legitimate game before today, but we understand the difference in that.”

For the Dragons, McGarry, Bryan, Bradey Chase and Brady Shene all recorded a hit. Manning struck out four batters in the affair.

The Bulldogs recorded nine hits on the day. A.J. Feleppa recorded the win for the Bulldogs.

The Dragons return to the field, weather permitting, today as they visit Corry to take on the Beavers at 4:30 p.m.

“We are going to take our mistakes and get better tomorrow,” White said.

Starting at $3.50/week.
