Voting is open for Warren County Sports Hall of Fame 2026 class

The Warren County Sports Hall of Fame has released the ballot for their upcoming 2026 induction class (which can be found on Page B2).

“We, the board, narrowed down our list of nominees and are elated with not only the quality of the ballot, but the variety of disciplines,” reported WCSHOF director Nate Sandberg. “We received over 50 total nominations this time. Looking over each nomination, it was obvious we would have a very large ballot.”

The release of the ballot means it is time to begin the “voting membership drive.” For $10 (a fee that has been the same since the first WCSHOF class in 1993), one can vote on who he or she would most like to see inducted into the Warren County Sports Hall of Fame. When voting, please select eight nominees.

“Every year we get comments on, ‘Why do we have to pay to vote?'” Sandberg said. “The small $10 fee is used to pay for the ceremony, awards, our post office box, and any other expenses we may incur. The fantastic Board of Directors completely volunteers their time to be a part of this wonderful organization and is very passionate about Warren County Sports.”

Anyone wishing to vote can do so via a variety of ways. One can fill out the paper ballot or vote by means of the new online ballot, using the following link: https://wcshof26.wufoo.com/forms/z1twjb4s15runwj/

The link will also be posted on the WCSHOF Facebook page:’ Warren County Sports Hall of Fame.’ The Facebook page will also have each nominee’s full biographies for any potential voter to view and read more information on each nominee. The WCSHOF is also inducting the Warren County Pennsylvania Bowling Association as its organization.

Sandberg added, “You will notice the ballot does not have any of the deceased nominees. When we determined the ballot, we had three deceased nominees make it. We voted as a board to induct Tom Scarcella, Lisa (Huey) Hochberg and Tom Santo, thus bypassing the voting process.” Readers and voters will also notice information on Lyman and Gerald Archibald.

“We also voted that, due to the Archibalds’ significant historical impact to Warren and the nation, it was best for them to both bypass the voting stage,” Sandberg said. “Sometimes there are certain people that Warren County residents and beyond need to know about and appreciate. The Archibalds met that criteria,”

Lyman and Gerald Archibald will start a new category of the WCSHOF: The ‘Legacy’ category. The focus of this category is to honor and celebrate Warren County sports contributors that have been ‘lost to time.’

“The Warren County sports accomplishments of people from 75 or more years ago are just as important as the ones made today, and it is our goal to preserve this history and their stories,” Sandberg said.

The WCSHOF board of directors thanks all of the people who made a nomination.

“Just because you nominated somebody and they did not make the ballot does not mean they will never make the ballot and/or be inducted into WCSHOF future classes,” Sandberg said. “We have to make some difficult decisions, but that is why we vote.”

Voting ends on Friday, May 8. Voters are to vote for exactly eight living nominees on ballot, as the WCSHOF is inducting eight from the 25. Any questions can be directed to the WCSHOF email: warrencountysportshalloffame@gmail.com.

Starting at $3.50/week.
