Freya Heath
On Monday, there were two meets at The Goat Fort in Warren.
The Elementary Division featured the Allegheny Aggregate Wolves and the Kinzua Vet Clinic Bulls. For the Middle School Division, the Cable Excavating Bulldogs faced the Whirley Tornadoes.
In the Elementary Division, the Kinzua Vet Clinic Bulls grabbed their second win of the season, besting the Allegheny Aggregate Wolves 327-212.
For the Wolves, Gabriel Curtis put up a season-best 22.8 3-Boulder Average. This young team has improved so much this season. However, the Bulls’ Freya Heath’s 26.3 3BA was the high-water mark and her teammates Elle Keddie (26.2 3BA) and Logan Woldt (25.5 3BA) were too much for the Wolves to keep pace. With this win the Bulls move into the finals ranked in second place.
The Middle School Division featured the Whirley Tornadoes and the Cable Excavating Bulldogs. The Tornadoes’ Avery Woldt (31.3 3BA), Bo Winkels (29 3BA) and Wesley Hornstrom (29 3BA) were the highlight of this match — providing several exciting Tops. The Bulldogs were missing one of their most experienced climbers, Olivia Bailey, which meant that several of their climbers needed to score on an extra boulder. They put up a good fight, but in the end it wasn’t enough to overcome the Tornadoes’ strong climbing. The final score was Whirley 409-329. This win boosted the Whirley Tornadoes into second position behind the Train Station Outlaws.
