Eisenhower posts road victory vs. North East
NORTH EAST — The Eisenhower Lady Knights closed out their regular season with a 49-41 Region 3 win on the road over North East on Thursday.
Eisenhower jumped out to an 18-6 first-quarter lead behind Clara Steinberg’s 11 points.
The Lady Knights would add to their lead by creating turnovers which led to balanced scoring as five different players reached the scoresheet for Eisenhower in the second quarter and gave it a 33-16 advantage at the break.
The Lady Grape Pickers came out of the locker room on fire as they outscored Eisenhower 16-6 in the third quarter to cut Eisenhower’s lead to 39-32 heading into the fourth.
Eisenhower got a big 3-pointer from senior Lainey Font to start the quarter and went 3 for 4 from the free throw line to keep the Grape Pickers at bay and get the Region 3 win.
“It was good to get the win,” Eisenhower head coach DJ Steinberg said. “We have to play with more patience and eliminate the turnovers. We missed too many shots tonight. We have some work to do to get ready for the playoffs.”
Eisenhower was led by Clara Steinberg’s 22 points. Font chipped in 8.
Eisenhower closed its regular season with an 8-6 record in the region and 13-8 overall, and now wait to see if they are selected for the playoffs on Sunday.
