EDINBORO — The Eisenhower boys basketball team brought home a District 10 3A championship for the first time since 2003 on Tuesday night with a 70-49 victory over Corry at PennWest Edinboro.
It just took the Knights a while to get going.
Corry started the game with a 15-2 run, but after a timeout by Eisenhower head coach Ryan Mangini the Knights went on their own 13-0 run, highlighted by junior Rylan Benton’s pair of 3-pointers and freshman Kymani Vine’s one make from beyond the arc to tie the game at 15-15 at the end of the first quarter.
Eisenhower added to its lead as Benton added another trey and fellow junior Austin Hanson scored 10 points, including 6-for-6 from the free throw line to increase its lead to 36-28 at halftime.
Benton, who had his best game of the season with 24 points, hit his fourth 3-pointer of the night and led the Knights with 9 points in the third quarter. Vine added a pair of treys on his way to 16 points, helping Eisenhower expand its lead to 60-41 heading into the final period.

“Rylan was our spark tonight,” Mangini said. “We played off his confidence and we needed that performance tonight.
“We found ourselves in a hole in the first quarter and after Rylan hit those threes we rallied around that and played great defense and got out in transition. I could not be prouder of this team.”
Austin Hanson was the other double-figure scorer for the Knights with 14 points. Keaton Frisina led Corry with 16 points and teammate Landon Deane chipped in 14.
When Benton was asked how it feels to be a district champion, he couldn’t help but smile.
“It feels great,” he said. “I am so proud of this team and how far we’ve come. I can’t wait to see what’s next.”
The Knights will wait to see who and where they play next.
