RUSSELL — Warren County has an all-time girls basketball scoring leader.
Eisenhower’s Clara Steinberg scored on a one-handed shot from the left side of the key with 6:31 remaining for her 40th point of the night and 1,823rd of her career as the Knights beat Clarion 78-20 in nonregion play Wednesday.
Steinberg’s basket broke the previous record of 1,822 held by former Eisenhower standout Elisha Jones.
“I am incredibly honored to break the record,” Clara Steinberg said. “I am glad I got it done in front of our home fans. I set this as a goal and worked incredibly hard to get it. I am blessed to have the teammates I do. I just want to thank all of my coaches for helping me to get to this point.”
Eisenhower jumped out early on the Bobcats, opening up a 32-2 lead after the first quarter and 58-12 lead at halftime.
