The Beaty Warren Middle School eighth-grade boys basketball team capped off a remarkable 2025-26 campaign with a perfect record, finishing 21-0 after an undefeated regular season and two decisive postseason victories.
The Dragons dominated from the opening tip of the season to the final buzzer, going 19-0 in regular-season play before entering the postseason as the clear favorite. But they proved they were more than just a talented team — they were a resilient, disciplined and tightly connected group of student-athletes and friends that rose to every challenge presented.
In the playoff opener last Wednesday at Warren Area High School, Beaty Dragons faced a tough Lakeview Sailors squad that refused to back down. Behind composed ball movement, lockdown defense, and clutch scoring, the Dragons held off Lakeview for a 41-35 win. The victory punched their ticket to the championship game and set the stage for their final statement of the season.
The championship matchup against the Rocky Grove Orioles, again held at home for the Dragons last Thursday, showcased the very best of Beaty’s basketball identity — fast-paced offense paired with suffocating defense. The Dragons controlled the tempo from the start and pulled away for a commanding 50-31 win, securing the title and completing their flawless season.
Across 21 games, the Dragons numbers tell the story of a team that overwhelmed opponents on both ends of the floor. The Dragons scored a total of 914 points this year — an average of 43.5 points per game — while holding opponents to just 509 total points, or 24.2 points per game.
That staggering plus-405 total point differential highlights their balance, depth and consistency. Every player contributed to a season defined not just by winning, but by teamwork and relentless effort.
Perfect seasons are rare at any level of basketball, and this year’s eighth-grade junior high team will be remembered as one of the most accomplished squads in Beaty Warren Middle School history. Their unblemished record, championship performance and seasonlong excellence have set a standard future teams will strive to match.
