Kalbfus Rod and Gun Club has announced the winners of its 2025 gun raffle.
James Reitz, a member of the club, won the Bergara B-14 Wilderness Hunter Rifle with a hand painted camouflage synthetic stock and sniper gray cerakote barrel. Reitz was very happy with his prize and plans to add a scope to the rifle and hunt with it. Chambered in 308 Winchester, he noted that it would be a very good rifle for deer or other Pennsylvania big game.
In addition to the rifle, the club awarded $100 prizes for every 50 tickets over 300 sold. Those winners were Paul Miller of Apple Creek Ohio; Larry Klein of Allison Park; Kevin Trumbull of Pittsfield; Bill Taylor of Pittsburgh; Chris Albaugh of Sheffield; Al Strandburg of Fredonia New York; and Michael McDunn of Warren.
Kalbfus Rod and Gun Club typically holds a gun raffle annually as a fund raiser.
“Offering one gun as a prize allows us to keep the ticket price low,” noted Chuck Travis, club treasurer. “Many gun raffles these days offer multiple guns as prizes and ticket prices increase to cover the extra costs of the guns.”
The club plans to offer a gun raffle in 2026. Details of the raffle will be posted on the club’s website, www.kalbfus.com.
Kalbfus Rod and Gun Club offers a 100 target Sporting Clays Course, two lighted Trap Fields, Skeet, and Five Stand opportunities, as well as a 50 and 100 yard pistol/rifle range. The Club House is a classic log structure with a full working kitchen. In addition to member events, the club is available for rental.

Kalbfus Rod and Gun Club recently awarded prizes for the winners of its annual “You Don’t Know Your Partner” summer sporting clays league.
For several years, Kalbfus R&G Club has hosted a competitive, fun league for shooters who enjoy shooting sporting clays and relish friendly competition. League participants shoot as individuals during a five-month season that runs from early May through late September. They pay a small additional fee for their sporting clays rounds of 50 targets. Those fees are accumulated and constitute the prizes awarded at the end of the season.
Shooters who complete the required number of rounds of target shooting have their scores tallied and they are divided into two groups — high scoring shooters and lower scoring shooters. By random draw, each high-scoring shooter is paired with a lower-scoring shooter. The two-man team with the highest combined score wins, and the next highest-scoring team places second, etc.
“Participation in the league was lower this year than in recent years,” noted Chuck Travis, club treasurer, who managed the league, notified the winners and awarded the prizes. “The more shooters we have the larger the prizes we can award.”
Winners of the league were: Lee Turk and Kyle Miller, first place, 850 targets; Dave Berdine and Paul Zentz, second place, 821 targets; Ed Aklin and Jerry Linden, 801 targets; and Joel Stewart and Sunny Linden, fourth place, 799 targets.
Shooting in the “You Don’t Know Your Partner” League is open to the public. Shoots are typically held on Thursday mornings and a couple Saturdays each month. Interested sporting clays enthusiasts should visit the Kalbfus website, www.kalbfus.com, for details about club membership, the league, and a calendar of other upcoming events.
