Warren girls cheerleaders receive PIAA bid
Christmas came early for the District 10 champion Warren girls cheerleading team as it has received a bid into the PIAA competitive spirit championships.
Athletic director Jon Sitler and head coach Melissa Feaster were notified of the news after District XII had not used all of their bids, thus a spot needed to be filled. The Dragons’ recent performance last weekend was good enough to earn the spot.
“I was beyond excited and couldn’t wait to tell the team,” Feaster said. “There was an announcement made during the school day and the girls didn’t think it was true. Josie Pearson said she looked at Caylin Warner in class and they both had tears of joy in their eyes.”
The celebration will soon end as it is now back to practice for the squad.
“We will put a few skill updates into the performance, but the ultimate goal is to give an energetic and clean routine that everyone is proud of,” Feaster said. “If a mistake occurs on the mat, it is important they continue to deliver and don’t let it impact their performance. We have two minutes and thirty seconds to show what they can do. We will put the hours in over break and will be ready to breathe that Dragon fire.”
The Dragons will compete the weekend of Jan. 9, 2026 at War Memorial Arena in Johnstown.
