The accolades keep pouring in for the Warren girls volleyball team, with five girls earning Erie Times-New all-star nods.
Senior Madelyn Nosel was named to the Big School All-District team, was a Region 5 First-Team all-star, and was voted the Region 5 Player of the Year. Nosel had a tremendous senior season as she became the new all-time kills leader for the Dragons.
“Madelyn became more and more locked in on offense as the season progressed,” Dragons head coach Mike Dolan said. “Despite the other teams keying on her, she was able to effectively score consistently with thunderous kills and also highly skilled off-speed shots. Her net presence, back-row defense, and leadership will be hard to replace next season as she leaves behind quite a legacy as one of the best to ever play in Warren.”
Junior Malysia Sorensen was also named to the All-District squad, and was a Region 5 First-Team all-star. Sorensen amassed 1,000 career digs for the Dragons in her third-year campaign.
“Malysia has definitely developed into one of the best liberos in the state. This season, her much-improved serve-receive was key to the team siding out consistently and avoiding opponent scoring runs,” Dolan said. “Added to her incredible reading of the game and ball-control on defense, her ever-improving serving pressure makes her a game-changer from the back row.”

Junior Attie Corey received the same accolades as Sorensen — All-District and Region 5 First-Team all-star. Corey was a force at the net this season and will look to continue that next year.
“Attie Corey, being one of those talented hitters, stepped up her game this season as she became a major force offensively. She was also one who developed new aspects of her game, changing speeds on offense, finding the angles to exploit, and aggressively going after blocks which forced the other team to second guess many of their attacks,” Dolan said. “She also led the team in aces for good measure showing that she has an all-around game.”
Setter Brynn Norris also made the All-District team and was a Region 5 First-Team selection. “Brynn certainly had some big shoes to fill as took the reins of the setter position from three-year starter and all-state player Lindsay Madigan who graduated. Brynn proved that she was up to the challenge,” Dolan said. “She is extremely mature and coachable as she developed every aspect of her game, from serving and blocking to defense, and especially running the offense, getting the ball in ideal locations to all the different talented hitters.”
Rounding out the accolades was sophomore Hailey Cabisca, earning a Second-Team selection.
“For Hailey to make the all-region second team as a sophomore is impressive,” Dolan said. “She’s a very talented outside hitter and all-around volleyball player and is driven by her love for the game. If she continues on her trajectory, lots of great things are ahead of her.

“It’s important to also acknowledge that each individual accolade is a tribute to the effort and success of the entire team, as they have all worked hard and pushed each other to excel in the off-season and continued throughout the preseason and each and every practice,” Dolan added. “But as I said these accolades, while well-earned, are also a direct reflection of the team’s success and that includes every single player on the team, each having an indispensable role. Seniors Peyton Wotorson, Lilly Newton and Lauren Fajbik’s hard work and leadership will especially be missed. But with a strong core of returning players, including these all-stars, we look to continue having success in upcoming seasons.”
