Eason looking forward to first season
The Warren High boys wrestling team looks to have another successful season under new head coach Koltyn Eason, who is a very accomplished high school wrestler from Central Dauphin High School, and wrestled collegiately at NCAA Division I Edinboro University.
Eason is a special education teacher at Beaty Warren Middle School, and has a wife and two kids. He is also the director of wrestling operations at the Kinzua Wrestling Club where he focuses on developing student-athletes both on and off the mat. Coaching alongside Eason will be assistant coach Ryan Wellner and volunteer Dan Pascuzzi.
“My main goal this year, as with every year, is to build a culture and environment where my athletes can reach their full potential. I want to equip them with the tools they need to succeed not only on the mat, but also in the classroom and in life,” Eason said. “By focusing on discipline, accountability and personal growth, I hope to develop well-rounded athletes who take pride in everything they do. Before the season starts, I’m putting a strong emphasis on building our mentality and culture. I want our athletes to develop a mindset centered on toughness, accountability, and constant growth. Creating the right culture where everyone buys in, supports one another, and pushes to be their best will set the foundation for everything we want to accomplish this year.”
The Dragons are anticipating a strong season from Hayden Holden as well as freshman Tanner Stuart. Many of the Dragons will find their role on the team under Eason’s leadership.
“I’m striving to build more than just a team; I want to create a family. My goal is to foster a culture rooted in accountability, commitment and mutual support,” Eason said. “Every member should take ownership of their actions, completing every rep and every set with purpose and integrity. By holding themselves and one another accountable, they’ll not only elevate their performance but also grow into the best versions of themselves, both on and off the mat. Everyone has to trust the process.”
Coach Eason will help instill heart and integrity every single day.
“If by the end of the season, these athletes walk away stronger, more accountable, and more united as a family, then that’s true success,” he said. “One thing I want my players to take away from this season, win or lose, is the value of dedication, perseverance, and the life skills that will serve them long after their time on the mat. I hope they carry the lessons of hard work, accountability, and resilience into every area of their lives.”
Eason believes the community plays an integral role in the success of his team.
“As the season begins, I’m excited to see our community come together — not just our current wrestling fans, but also those who have supported the sport in years past. My goal is to rekindle the passion for wrestling that has always been a part of this community. Everywhere you go, it seems like someone has a brother, relative, or friend who once wrestled but hasn’t been involved in recent years. I want to bring that spark back,” he said. “Because true success isn’t just measured in wins and losses, it’s built through the strength, pride and involvement of our entire community. Being in my first year as Warren’s wrestling coach, I’m extremely excited to be part of such a strong and supportive community. The level of encouragement and pride surrounding these athletes is truly incredible, and I’m honored to play a significant role in the Warren High wrestling program. I look forward to building on its rich tradition and continuing to strengthen the bond between our team and the community. We can’t wait to showcase all the hard work these athletes have put in.”
