ERIE — The Warren girls soccer team found itself in a tough battle against a strong Harbor Creek squad for the Class 3A District 10 title Tuesday at the Hagerty Family Events Center.

The Dragons played tough the entire night, as the game was scoreless after the first half that featured strong, crisp all-around passing and defense from the Dragons.

In the end, however, Harbor Creek prevailed 3-0.

Playing downwind in the second half, the Huskies struck first as a ball slipped through Bella Campbell’s grasp in the 54th minute. Harbor Creek would keep the pressure on, scoring two more times in the 73rd and 78th minute.

“We had some very good chances to take a first-half lead but could not capitalize,” Warren head coach Mark Ordiway said. “Harbor Creek may have had just one weak shot on goal the entire first half. Despite losing 3-0, the game felt much closer. Our defense played a really great game, regardless of the score. It was a nice season for the team as we reached our goal of splitting the region title with Bradford.”

The loss ends the season for the Warren girls soccer program as well as the career of Meea Irwin, who ends her tenure as Warren’s all-time leading goal scorer with 161 goals.

Starting at $3.50/week.
