On Saturday, the Warren boys hosted Girard at War Memorial Field and dropped a close 1-0 contest to the Yellow Jackets.

The nonregion bout was deadlocked at 0-0 after the first half. Both teams held firm on defense the whole game, but it was Girard who was able to find the back of the net in the second half to take the 1-0 lead, and hold it until time expired.

“We have to give Girard a lot of credit as they were really strong defensively and took advantage of their limited chances,” Warren head coach Steffen Blair said. “We got away from what we do well. We struggled to move the ball early in the game and that made us impatient and inefficient. It’s a disappointing result at this point in the season, but this has been a resilient group all year, and we’re looking forward to a couple good opportunities to bounce back this week.

Senior goalkeeper Adon Maier recorded eight saves for the Dragons.

Steals leaders for the game were Quinn Norris with 27, Luc WIlkins with 13 and Bryce Grolumund with 12.

Warren looks to get back into the win column today when it hosts the Bradford Owls for a 5 p.m. varsity kickoff.
