Dragons celebrate their seniors, knock off Cochranton, too

Thursday was Senior Night for the Warren volleyball team as it honored Madelyn Nosel, Lilly Newton, Lauren Fajbik and Peyton Wotorson.

They went out in style.

Sparked by 15 kills, six digs and an ace from Nosel, the Dragons upended Cochranton 25-14, 25-20, 25-16 in their regular-season finale.

Newton had four kills and five blocks; Fajbik tallied four digs and one assist; and Wotorson had five kills, three digs and one block. Also highlighting the stat book were Malysia Sorensen with 10 digs, Paiden Johnson with two aces and Brynn Norris with 32 assists and seven digs.

Warren is now on to the PIAA District 10 playoffs where it earned the No. 1 seed in Class AAA.

The Dragons earned a bye into the semifinals and will face the winner of Slippery Rock and Meadville.

In junior varsity play, the Dragons defeated the Cardinals 26-28, 25-20, 20-18.

Statistics for Warren were Maddy Snell two aces, five digs; Lara Pearson seven aces, seven kills, seven digs; Tia French four digs; Kendall Skerda seven kills, four digs; Michaela Dolan six digs, 26 assists; Kelsey Johnson six kills, seven digs; Adelaide Keeports three kills, three digs; Grace Schwab two aces, two kills, two blocks; and Addison Brown two kills, five digs.

Eisenhower Lady Knight Volleyball has been selected for the District 10 playoffs.

The Knights, who finished 11-6 overall and 4-4 in Region 2, will face District 10 Region 3 Hickory, which finished 10-5 overall and 6-3 in its region.

The game is set for Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Franklin High School.
