Locals find volleyball success

EDINBORO — The Warren girls volleyball team traveled to General McLane on Thursday and swept the Lancers 25-13, 25-13, 25-18 to improve to 11-0 on the season.

Strong performance from the deep Dragon rotation propelled them to another victory. Madelyn Nosel tallied 18 kills and six digs; Hailey Cabisca had 11 kills; and Brynn Norris notched 31 assists and six digs.

Lilly Newton had six kills, Attie Corey contributed four kills and Lauren Fajbik had two kills. Libero Malysia Sorensen recorded 12 digs, Paiden Johnson added four aces and six digs, and Peyton Wotorson contributed two kills and two aces.

In the junior varsity match, McLane bested Warren 25-23, 25-18.

Lara Pearson had eight kills and 20 digs, Tia French added seven digs; eight kills, and 10 digs came from Kelsey Johnson; Kendall Skerda had three kills; and Michaela Dolan racked up 20 assists.

The Dragons are back in action Tuesday when they host the Meadville Bulldogs for a 6 p.m. junior varsity start with varsity to follow.

KNIGHTS WIN AGAIN

RUSSELL — For the second night in a row, Eisenhower made the difficult look routine as it completed another reverse-sweep win, this time coming from two sets down to defeat Conneaut Area Senior High 22-25, 11-25, 25-22, 25-21, 15-12.

“The perseverance of this team is just incredible,” Eisenhower head coach Lori Pascuzzi said. “Two back-to-back reverse sweeps is quite an accomplishment and shows their drive and never-give-up attitude.”

Eisenhower was led by Paisley Lawson, who had 10 kills and one ace. Layla Edwards had eight kills, one block and four aces; Payton Matson had five kills, two blocks and one ace; Riley Robinault added three kills, two blocks and two aces; Lainey Font had 24 digs and 19 receptions; Meredith Smyth had 15 digs and 10 receptions; Lawson added 14 digs and 13 receptions.

“It was a great region win against a very good (Conneaut Area) team,” Pascuzzi said. “We made adjustments after the first two games and took advantage of our opportunities.”

Eisenhower improved to 10-4 overall and 4-2 in Region 2 play. Conneaut Area dropped to 11-6-1 overall and 2-3 in Region 2.
