Dragons split cross country meet
NORTH EAST — The Warren cross-country team traveled to North East to take on the Grapepickers on Wednesday, with the varsity girls winning 22-33, and the boys losing 31-28.
Morgan Alexander continued her strong season, earning top honors, with teammates Riley Evan and Emma Peterson finishing in second and third place respectively. Ella Cull (sixth), Rose Rioux, (10th) and Loralei Johnson (13th) ran strong times for the Dragons.
For the varsity boys, Warren’s Cole Fitzgerald had the top time with Leyton Salvatore close behind in second place. Grayson Collopy (fifth) ran well for the Dragons. A slew of North East runners flooded the finish line before Chase Fetzeck in 12th. Levi Peterson (15th), Gavin Heeter (16th), and Mason Smith (19th) keep improving on the season.
In the junior high girls race, Nina and Elsie Woldt are making a habit of finishing 1-2 every race, and did just that. Ashlyn Zawacki (seventh), Delaney Moore (eighth), and Emilie Youngren (11th) had strong finishes for the Dragons.
The junior high boys saw Ashton Carrington (third) as the Dragons’ top finisher, with teammates Cole Enos (fifth), Connor Schwabenbauer (seventh), and Mason Chapman (ninth) running sub-11-minute times as well. Dragon runners to round out the finishers were: Oliver Drescher (12th), Trenton Wright (13th), Zane Getner (14th), Jackson Warner (15th), Daniel Cull (16th), Caleb Fralek (17th), Liam Johnson (19th), Eli Lutton (20th) and Landon Lutton (21st).
The Dragons are back on the course when they host Seneca on Tuesday at Betts Park for a 4 p.m. start.
