Dragons edge Ike in county cross-country duel

The Warren cross-country team hosted Eisenhower and won both varsity boys and girls contests.

In varsity boys action, Warren’s Cole Fitzgerald, Leyton Salvatore and Grayson Collopy all tied for first place. Alex Lund (fourth) and Mason Britt (fifth) were the top runners for the Knights. Sixth place was earned by Chase Fetzeck followed by Levi Peterson and Gavin Heeter. Bryce Ludwick and Carson Ferman finished ninth and 10th respectively. Rounding out the high school boys were Mason Smith, Jack Monroe and Jonathan Bogniak.

The Warren girls team was led by Emma Peterson, Riley Evan and Morgan Alexander, who finished first, second and third respectively.

Eisenhower’s Laney Belcher, Izzy Grosch and Lainey Font were the next finishers. Dragon runners Ella Cull and Loralei Johnson finished seventh and eighth respectively. Callie Delp (EHS), Bryn Lin (EHS) Rose Rioux (WAHS), and Addyson Britt (EHS) also ran strong races.

The junior high boys had the following results: Cam Lindell (EHS, first), Benny Matson (EHS, second), Ashton Carrington (W, third), Mason Chapman (W, fourth), Cole Enos (W, fifth), Connor Schwabenbauer (W, sixth), Caleb Fralick (W, seventh), Daniel Cull (W, eighth), Chase Lindell (W, ninth), Dylan Shaffer (E, 10th), Zane Getner (W, 11th), Oliver Drescher (W, 12th), Jaxon Warner (W, 13th), Zach Ayers (E, 14th), Trenton Wright (W, 15th), Liam Johnson (W, 16th), Eli Lutton (W, 17th), and Landon Lutton (W, 18th).

The junior high girls results are as follows: Nina Woldt (W, first), Elsie Woldt (W, second), Josie Elms (EHS, third), Kaylee Ferino (EHS, fourth), Hanna Lund (EHS, fifth), Naveen Mead (EHS, sixth), Delaney Moore (W, seventh), Ashlynn Zawacki (W, eighth), and Emily Youngren (W, ninth).

Warren is back on the course today when it competes at the prestigious Paul Short Run at Lehigh University in Bethlehem. Eisenhower’s next meet is next Wednesday when it hosts Union City at 4 p.m.
