WARREN — On Senior Day at Betts Park, the Warren Dragons defeated the Bradford Owls 5-0. The dominant Dragons only dropped two games the entire day en route to their victory.
“It was nice to grab a win on Senior Day for this group of girls,” Warren head coach Thomas Pellegrino said. “It worked out well as we have exactly seven this season so every senior was able to start in the varsity lineup today.”
At first singles, Lucy Harrison defeated Emmy Kemick 6-0 6-0.
Alannah Garza was also a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Jackie Sipko.
Grace Carlson completed the singles sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Brooke Komider.
Sarah Harvey and Brady Caudill defeated Lilly Hawk and Karmyn Vossler 6-1, 6-0 at first doubles.
Lilly Seyler and Sophia Davis topped Elaina Keller and Kasey Poe 6-1, 6-0 at second doubles.
Olivia Romanosky, Jade Stewert and Laken Carroll were winners in jayvee play.
“Yesterday’s 5-0 win was for sure a memorable one, with all seniors starting and winning on our Senior Day,” Carlson said. “The energy, teamwork and outcome of our match made our celebration even more exciting.”
“This group has made a big impact on the program and is one of the main reasons we have a winning culture for the girls tennis team,” Pellegrino added. “They have been involved in multiple district runs and taken the program to places it hasn’t seen since the 1990s. Across their four years, this group has never seen a losing season. We are extremely proud of them and excited to see what the future holds.”
With the win, the Dragons move to 8-4 overall and are currently on a three-match winning streak.
Warren looks to keep that alive as it travels to Mercyhurst Prep on Tuesday in region play with a 4 p.m. start.
