Warren cross country competes in Hershey

HERSHEY — The Warren cross country teams competed in the 19th annual PIAA Foundation Meet on Saturday.

In varsity girls action, the Dragons ran well enough to earn a seventh-place finish out of the 28 AA schools in attendance.

Morgan Alexander paced the Dragons with a time of 21:16.3, good enough for 22nd place. Leona Hovan (21:52.4) and Riley Evan (21:57.9) finished 39th and 40th, respectively. Right behind was teammate Emma Peterson who ran a 22:27.8, good for 49th overall. Rounding out the Dragons were Ella Cull (26:02.1) and Loralei Johnson (28:37.4).

The varsity boys earned an 18th overall finish out of 30 total AA teams.

Sophomore Cole Fitzgerald had the fastest time for Warren with a 17:55.7, good for 34th overall. Leyton Salvatore finished just 3.3 seconds behind Fitzgerald and placed 42nd. Grayson Collopy (19:45.4) and Chase Fetzeck (20:56.7) earned 111th and 152nd finishes, respectively. The final finishers for Warren were Levi Peterson (21:49.7) and Gavin Heeter (22:33.7).

The Dragons return to action Tuesday when they travel to Harbor Creek for a 4 p.m. start time.
