Shippee medals, Warren girls place fourth in Coudersport
COUDERSPORT — Warren junior Kate Shippee placed fourth out of 37 players while anchoring the girls golf team to a fourth-place finish out of nine teams at the Coudersport Girls Golf Invitational on Thursday. “Today was a very positive day for our golf team as we had a very solid finish with rainy and windy conditions on the hilly course,” said Dragons head coach Scott Pearson.
The round was played at the Coudersport Golf Club from the 4,563-yard red tees.
“The front nine requires precise tee shots as many of the fairways are very tight and sloped with a lot of out of bounds and hazards,” Pearson added. “This course presented many challenges that we are not used to.”
Warren first-year senior Kayle Bell shot her personal-best round of 112 and first-year junior Alyssa Reichle also shot her personal best, carding a 122. Along with Shippee’s round of 88, Alanna Warrior rounded out the scoring with a 124.
“I saw a lot of really good golf shots today by everyone, and it’s nice to see the steady improvements and enjoyment they are getting from this game,” Pearson said.
As a team, the combined score for Warren was a 322 (top three of five scores) while Jersey Shore took home the gold with a team score of 256. The low medalist on the day was Jersey Shore’s Kylie Schall who fired a 73.
The Dragons return to play Monday morning when they travel to Meadville for their next mega match.
