WARREN — Warren senior Quinn Norris scored on a penalty kick during the first golden-goal overtime period as the Dragons beat Meadville 4-3 in Region 5 boys soccer Thursday at War Memorial Field.

It was a back-and-forth game all evening with the score being tied 1-1 at halftime. It was still tied 3-3 at the end of regulation, which meant overtime.

Senior Jack Chapman got fouled in the box, leading to Norris putting the nail in the Bulldogs’ coffin.

Reilly Morgan recorded a goal assisted by Quinn Norris. Gabe Dougherty also scored off an assist from Quinn Norris.

Jack Chapman found the back of the net off a pass from Trey Carrington.

Norris was Warren’s steal leader with 38, followed by Timmy Giger (22) and Reilly Morgan (21).

Goalkeeper Adon Maier recorded 5 saves on the evening.

“We’ve talked a lot about how resilient this group is, and they proved it tonight,” Warren head coach Steffen Blair said. “Meadville has a talented team that had our number all last year. We asked a lot of the boys tonight and I’m proud of how they responded. We still have a lot of work to do, but this was exactly what this team needed.”

The Dragons jayvee squad also defeated the Bulldogs 1-0. Shawn Lang scored the goal from a Grant Newton pass.

Warren returns to play Monday when it travels to Oil City for a 6:30 p.m. varsity start.

Starting at $3.50/week.
